Stanley lies in the far NW corner of Tasmania and has some of the most beautiful scenery in the state with lush old-growth forests, rolling green hills and sandy beaches.

Stanley is renowned for its fishing and boasts some of the nicest & freshest seafood in the world which is served in the many restaurants and cafe's scattered around the town. The Stanley warf is also a great place to do a spot of fishing with friends and family.

A quiet little town, Stanley is perfect for a relaxing day which you can spend browsing art galleries, gift shops and learning about the many historical sites around the area. You can also spend some time on the local golf coarse or just laze on the quiet beaches.

One of the main attractions of Stanley is the Nut, a 152 meter high, long extinct volcanic caldera on the edge of the coast. You can catch a chair lift or walk up to the top of the Nut for some amazing views of Bass Strait and the coastline of NW Tasmania.

• Discover Highfield Historic Site and learn about the history of this famous pioneer farmsted.


• Learn about the history of Tasmanian pioneers at Water Wheel Creek Timber Heritage where you can experience examples and unique replicas of a pioneer timber working environment. Also be sure to check out the Wild Wood Gallery where you can see hand crafted art, funiture etc. made from wood.


• Visit gorgeous waterfalls such as nearby Dip Falls located in the thick of temperate forests with trees as large as sky scrapers.


• Take a tour of Rocky Cape National Park, visit the Seaquarium and walk around beautiful Allendale Gardens, the Discovery Centre, Joe Lyons Cottage, Woolnorth wind farm and cattle station, go bushwalking on the many trails or go surfing at Marrawah.



• Take a leisurely boat cruise down the Arthur & Pieman Rivers and explore the beauty of Tasmanias' old growth temperate rainforests.
